Hi, my name is

Sarah Masse

Why am I joining Hope on the Horizon?

I saw the love of the CSM volunteers in action during a training session, and I was moved by the openness of the people we were doing outreach with. The organization’s unique emphasis on the emotional and spiritual needs of the homeless was striking.

I’ve often offered food or sometimes money to people on the streets, but I’ve been uncertain how to carry out meaningful conversations that go beyond a few short words and a smile. While these interactions are a start, I’ve wanted to learn how to have deeper encounters with our brothers and sisters on the street — to let them know they are seen, loved, and that God wants to be a part of their lives.

I’ve been very blessed in my life, and this program feels like an opportunity to give back. I’m grateful for the chance to grow in faith, step outside my comfort zone, and serve those in need through Hope on the Horizon.

More about me!

I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University, with an emphasis on printmaking and sculpture. I enjoy exploring a range of different media and view art as a means of glorifying God. Mass and spending time with Jesus in Adoration are the highlights of my week.

Outside of that, I love spending time with friends and family and being outdoors — especially camping, hiking, going for walks, and cycling. I’m also involved with my parish’s youth group and Catholic Christian Outreach.

What comes next after school? I’m not sure! Whether it’s work, more studies, consecrated life, or marriage, I see this season of uncertainty as an invitation to trust in God and go on an adventure with Him.
