Hi, my name is
Maria Lara
Why am I joining Hope on the Horizon?
Hi, my name is Maria, and I’m 25 years old. I’m originally from Brazil, and I’ve been blessed to live in different places like Mexico, El Salvador, Spain, and now Canada, where I’m visiting my parents in Victoria.
I spent a year as a missionary in Mexico, working with girls ages 10 to 16, helping them build a relationship with God, others, and themselves, and showing them their true value as daughters of God. I love playing sports, being active, and spending time with people.
More than anything, I just want to be a light wherever I go and help others feel God’s love through simple acts of kindness and presence. That’s why I’m joining this mission – to reflect Jesus’ light in the streets, serve those in need, and grow in faith alongside others who share the same desire.
More about me!
I love anything active or creative — from playing soccer, basketball, and volleyball to painting, cooking, and arts and crafts. I speak English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and I’ve been blessed with missionary experience in Mexico serving youth and families. I enjoy organizing behind the scenes, building community, and making sure everyone feels included.
