Hi, my name is

Justin Borkowski

Why am I joining Hope on the Horizon?

Hello, I am Justin, and I am excited for the opportunity to be working with Catholic Street Missionaries (CSM). I am currently a student completing a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Trinity Western University (TWU). My hope is to integrate faith and practice; helping people find hope and healing through Jesus. It is this desire to foster hope that led me to serve with CSM.

I spent a year working in Vancouver’s Waterfront area, where I witnessed deep suffering. At first, I felt too small and powerless to make any meaningful difference. The people there had experienced so much, and I was just a kid who had barely lived life yet. I had no idea how to help people whose suffering was so much bigger than I could possibly understand. Over time, however, I found that I could make a small change through small acts of love and connection.

Remembering names, listening to stories; these were the things that mattered. These relationships offered light in the darkness: a hope that they were loved. This is the message that I want to share.

More about me!

Outside of CSM, I serve in my church community through several youth ministries. I lead these ministries directly with the youth as well as through the formation of future leaders. I love helping people access their inner strengths and becoming the people God created them to be.

Before deciding on a career of Counselling, I completed a program in Music Therapy. I enjoy both composing and performing music and can play guitar and piano. I used to play trumpet in a jazz band, but both me and the trumpet are a little rusty now….
