Hi, my name is

Danielle Labish

Why am I joining Hope on the Horizon?

I volunteered with Catholic Street Missionaries for outreach once before and it was an eye-opening experience. It gave me a glimpse of the beauty of serving others; especially the poor and marginalized community. While deepening my empathy, it reminded me that it is much better to give than to receive. God created each and every person on purpose and for a purpose; I pray that the people I will serve will be reminded of that.

I hope to strengthen my outreach skills and meet more Catholics who are on-fire for serving God in the poor.

Even though this program will require me to step out of my comfort zone, I look forward to it with optimism and hope, for I trust that God will give me the strength I need.

More about me!

During my free time I like to go to adoration, spend time with my friends, listen to music and podcasts, walk on nature trails, and occasionally learn French and/or Swedish. I also sing in the choir at my church because that brings me joy.

I recently graduated from Columbia Bible College with an Educational Assistant certificate. Serving elementary school students during my practicum led me to deepen my understanding of the value of serving others. Through the EA program, as well as the Making Sense of Trauma webinar helped me to understand how trauma affects people of all ages. Although I am not planning on pursuing a career as an Educational Assistant anytime soon, I believe that Hope on the Horizon may help me to discern what God is calling me to do next.
